No matter how much we want to live in peace, we sometimes face problems which are just too big to overcome. These difficulties can make your life a living hell. In many cases conventional approaches don’t work anymore to get your life back on track.

Actually, I’m quite surprised by the increasing number of people who want to change their identity. If you just Google the phrase “change my identity” you will be bombarded by thousands of different results. When I tried to check them, it seems that most people have different sensible reasons as to why they want to start afresh. There’s this guy who had some dealings with the police during his teenage years and now he’s having difficulties in landing a job.

However, I also came across people who just want to enjoy their life as a normal person, e.g. escaping from an abuser or stalker. Getting away from financial responsibilities is also one of the main factors for this great desire to change identity. There are much more substantial reasons other than these. Someone might, perhaps, witness a crime, and a hit man is looking for them. Many people who change their identity also want to hide from the authorities. Whatever your reason might be, I’m pretty sure that there is a definite and legal way to resolve your challenges.

Before we delve more into the legal methods of changing your identity, it must be stressed that if you get yourself into illegal things, you are just putting yourself in danger.

You have probably read various books on how to change your identity and one of the ways that they may have proudly explained in their book is creating a fake ID or altering documents like your birth certificate to obtain a new driver’s license. They might also have suggested that you think of different numbers for your social security number. Neither of these will work. Perhaps it could have worked in the 19th century, but let’s face it, with everything being so advanced these days, I’m sure it would be virtually impossible to get away with this kind of trick. So, attempting to forge your documents to obtain a driver’s license will get you arrested given the modern DMV’s we have.

Actually, a driver’s license isn’t the hardest document to obtain; I would say it’s the Social Security Number. Again, most books will just tell you to invent numbers, fake your documents and even worse, to cut out a picture and paste it onto your ID. These books, sorry for sounding harsh, are nonsense. I don’t think that the person who wrote it was in his right mind, or maybe he was just after money and didn’t care if his advice was making any sense. Do you honestly think that that would work? When I bought a book on how to change one’s identity for 35 dollars, I was pretty surprised on the suggestions the author was giving his reader. I thought to myself “man, would that really work?” I mean, it wasn’t believable at all. So when I was all done reading over the whole 170 pages of crap, what I just uttered was “it’s completely rubbish”. Admittedly though, it did give me some advice which, for my money, were practical.

The ‘Change Identity Bible‘ book will show you only the most ideal, practical and easy ways to live completely under the radar and change your identity. I have also included only the most sound advice that I got from those books that I purchased in the past. Plus, I will tell you the tricks on how exactly to get a new Social Security number in less than an hour.

If I were you, I wouldn’t waste my precious time reading over 100 pages of a book which contains no help at all. This book that I have for you is the most comprehensive guide available and it offers revolutionary methods which are, of course, completely applicable in these modern times.

In fact, you can change your identity without having to obtain a birth certificate and a driver’s license. Although, I must admit that having what you desire can take a bit of a time especially if you want to live legally and normally. Let me reiterate that forging or altering your most important documents is entire rubbish.

The methods presented in this book won’t put you behind bars and you will be given the chance to enjoy your freedom just like any other person. Not only that, but if you have a child, you can even enroll him in any school you want, it’s totally possible.

I am really glad I cam across this guide written by Peter Bergmann. Thanks to this information, I was able to secure employment, rent a house and buy a car without having to reveal my real information to anyone.

Again, it takes time, but TO LIVE LEGALLY AND ANONYMOUSLY as long as you want IS what we are aiming for anyway?

I always found it puzzling why someone would want to change their identity after years until I needed to do it too because I had so much debt that I could not repay.

One thing that I can assure you is that the decision to change my ID was a culmination of not being able to continue living under pressure like a fugitive. Ultimately, the process of changing my name to escape from debt meant making sacrifice. I am sure at this point you want to know if the decision to get a new identity and starting all over was more risky compared to facing my debtors. The truth is yes; therefore, I needed to be smart to succeed in this venture because there are consequences for such a move hence the need to ensure utmost discretion.

The question then did I change my ID to get away from my debt burden? To begin with, you will need to be willing to give up most of what you have worked for over the years and be ready to start a new life. Once you are certain about this, you can then change your name as I did. Having done a bit of background research, I was advised to avoid doing so through a statutory declaration, public notice or even deed poll to avoid being traced. At this point, I went for a name that did not have any correlation with the old one.

This was followed by my relocation to another state while ensuring that not even my friends and family knew where I was because they may be approached by creditors to provide information on my whereabouts. Remember I mentioned about being willing to make sacrifices. Having done that I then went on to destroy all my documents that bore my old name like the SSN card, driving license, ATM and even passport among other personal documents. I also was keen to bring down any information on my identity on the internet be deleting my social media accounts and information uploaded on other sites. Having done that, I was certain that I could not be traced so I embarked on a job-hunt in my new state because I felt relieved of the debt burden and was ready to write a new chapter in my life. Even then, the downside of this is that I could not find any well paying jobs.

One of the things that I learnt from this experience is that some things will not change with your identity like your insurance number. Secondly, I had to be willing to let go of my years of sweat, as I had no choice but destroy all documents that could give me out to my creditors including my SSN number before relocating to a different state. I also had to ensure that I do not use my previous identity online or offline for whatever reason meaning I cut links with friends.

However, this meant that I had to put up with poor pay that I considered better than the huge debt burden. Over time I successfully applied for a certificate of naturalization with a new name after which I was able to acquire a new passport.

A huge debt burden can usually mess up with the rational thinking of an individual. This is exactly what happened to me when I attempted to change my identity to escape the wrath of creditors.

Reeling from a loan repayment that never seemed to get any closer to settlement and a credit card burdens, I felt that the only way out for me to have a chance to continue living would be through a change of identity.

I had to be smart in this venture though. This is because I knew the consequences of such actions being detected. For starters, there are some things that do not change when you decide to go for a name change officially. The insurance number, for example, would not change if I decided to do this officially. Whereas the Pensions Department is supposed to secure this information and not reveal it to anyone, I felt that it would mean I have to look over my shoulder every time in guilt. I wanted to leave the coat of debts behind at any cost; this seemed the only way for me to continue living.

The electoral office seemed like the other place from where creditors would get my new identity pretty fast. Hence I decided to do the only other rational thing; get rid of all my documents bearing any name and numbers that the creditors would use to find me. This I promptly did before flying to a totally different state. Here I applied for work and got some. However, I had to contend with poor pay for the very reason that I lacked an SSN number. However, with the problem I was running away from, this seemed like a small thing.

I however knew better than to use any of my previous identities whether online or offline. After a few years, I applied for a Certificate of Naturalization using a totally new name that sounded almost exotic and was lucky to get one. Next, I had to get hold of a passport which was also a successful venture. It seemed like my life was getting back to normal. When I got married and had to change my last name, I knew my chances of ever being traced were even slimmer. One thing I did was ensure that the hairstyles I rocked were totally different from the ones I had worn when I was younger and deeply in debt; you never can tell what can happen with photos that bear remarkable similarities.

I opted to avoid the banks when in need of credit for obvious reasons; it was still somehow risky. There are local creditors where I now reside and my husband and I have no trouble getting loans from them. We have even established a small business here and this is the first time in my life I actually feel free.

However, I have to confess that I still feel ill at ease sometimes. There are cruel possibilities that could spoil the freedom for me. However little they may seem, I cannot ignore them and I still look over my shoulders from time to time.

Credit card debt is horrible trap to fall into. Many people do not realize that their uncontrolled spending habits are pushing them into a trap laid down by the creditors and credit card companies.

Many times people come under so much debt that they have to be creative to escape from the clutches of credit card companies. No matter how many moments you spend in peace, if you have a huge problem of debt on your head, you will not be able to enjoy your time.

Changing the Identity: A New Face

Well, changing the identity becomes an obvious choice, if you are charged with credit card fraud. This can certainly bring your life back on track. But it is easier said than done. Jacob Crawford is one such person. Very little information is available on his previous identity. People like him are changing their identities for a number of reasons. Just search for change identity and you will find a million search results. But no person will come forward to claim that he/she has changed his identity. But Jacob Crawford is an exception. And he guides people on changing their identities through his personal blog. A rare feat indeed.

Escape Debt: Change Identity

Sometimes the option to disappear seems the best option out there. In case of Jacob Crawford, he chose this option to escape the crushing debt he was under. There are many things to consider when you change your identity to get away from your problems. This can be quite hard a task to pull off. But the right person, like Andrew Hambrick have pulled it off quite easily and guides other individuals also. Remember, if you are caught, you will be tried and tested in a court of law in your respective country.

Some people even thought of first faking their own death. This is the most common method of escaping debt companies. In most probability, this is the hardest method and he knew it would not work. The legal ramifications of bringing someone back from the death are very complex. Manipulating the system is almost impossible. The police never declare a person dead unless they have the body of the person as a proof. If there is no body found, police term the person as missing or untraceable. Faking an accident did cross his mind but the investigative agencies would have caught up with him sooner or later. He says, Trust me on this one. I have known many personal cases where individuals are caught in the end. And the end is not good.” The serious fraud cases are investigated at the very highest level and you do not run far. So, faking a death by accident was almost impossible and out of the question.

Next came the option of creating a new ID or obtaining documents that can help you establish yourself as someone who is totally free of debt. This is inadvisable. In most cases, when you take on a new identity, you will most likely replace someone’s identity. This is called identity theft technically and is a severe crime in every state. Harsher punishments are listed in every state law that make sure that identity theft is not going unchecked. The origins of the new ID should be tested and verified personally. The underground groups who will deliver you the newest fake ID will almost never allow you to check first. So, there is this element of doubt here. If you will use it for any official purpose, i.e. obtaining a new home loan or crossing a border, you are most likely to end up in jail. Copied fake Ids are the most sought after in the black markets around the world but they hardly work in the real world.

Jacob Crawford tried this way but fortunately did not use the fake identity ever. Licensee and passports are universal documents that can be tracked easily. All over the world, the USA passports can be tracked by a built in RFID chip. This makes sure that even if the person is dead in a foreign country, his passport will most likely be tracked and recovered. You cannot use his/her lost passport to enter the united states of America. If you are found in the customs with a fake ID, you will be in big trouble. Not only would they ban you entering the United States forever, but they will also charge you with felony.

It is still unclear as to how did Jacob Crawford become the new man that he is now. How did he attained a new identity and how he spends his life now? Does he have any debt problems now also? Well, only he himself knows how this became possible. But he does advise people on how to get a new identity.

General Tips from Someone Experienced

There are many books sold out there that let you know how to vanish from the world. These books contain many methods but most of them are very dangerous. It is a huge risk to follow any of the methods. These recipes of disaster will only appeal to someone who is way beyond the mark in debt and has absolutely no choice but to take this dangerous route.

Well, Mark shares his secrets. First of all, you have to be prepared to lose everything. And this includes family, children, house or even your current job. He says that you plan to change your identity must be very confidential. Not even your spouse should know that you are planning this in your head. Keep the plans private. Start avoiding technology months ahead of the actual identity loss. Do not make heavy usage of the technology or else you will be caught. When you are searching for identity theft on Google, make sure you wipe off your browser’s history.

You should carefully eliminate any footprints that may lead them to your new identity. When you have decided to live an anonymous life, it is time to get a new identity. No, Mark will not guide on how to get a new identity. But if you are truly looking, you will find the right people who will sell you a new identity and handle all the paperwork. Now, this can be very expensive and these people prefer cash So, make sure you have the money to afford all these new documents. You should also purchase a new cell phone that has no IMEI number to be traced. Cheap Chinese phones can do the job as they have no IMEI numbers. Although, they are few in the market but someone will sell you one. The card you out in it should be top-up card and not a post-paid connection. Prepaid credit cards should be purchased for any on-the-run purchases. This ensures that your traces of movements are less.

Furthermore, you can bribe your way to someone in the police department to clean all your previous records. Yes, this sounds strange but there are always some dirty fish in the bowl. Pay them handsomely to wipe off your entire record of the official documents. This way, when your family finds you , they cannot trace you.

On the final day, keep it normal. Just vanish into thin air doing your everyday job. Reach a pre-planned destination and stick to the plan. If everything goes right, people will forget you in some years.

Mark says , when he called his family after 5 years from a South American country, they could not recognize his voice. Now, he says, it is time to reconnect with your family.

If all your ID documents are right, you can return to your country as a new person. Or call your entire family to live with you. Story over but no one should know. Yea, right!

A new identity might help stalking victims to find safety. The high level privacy tactic has shown to be effective and it has been used in the past to protect women who had become victims of stalkers.

It is highly necessary to take stalking crimes seriously and working towards a means to protect the privacy when harassment starts.

If you are a victim of stalking and want to protect yourself, then a new identity could prove to be a good option. A new name and identity would definitely saved many individuals in the past from being stalkers.

The subject of a identity change is an emotional subject. There are the various laws in a number of jurisdictions in western culture that support the use of an alternate identity for the privacy purposes.

You should always make sure that you follow all the laws in your country or state that relate to pen name. You should always provide the law enforcement and government officials along with the true name and bona fide identification documents. If you use a fake identification with law enforcement agents or government officials, you could get in serious trouble.

The use of the new identity is the most important step to save you from a stalker. In creating and maintaining new ID, the most difficult part is to stand up to the background checks. By copying someone’s identity who already exists, anybody can simply take advantage of the fact that with them, there defiantly will be some sort of past, and those they are not wise enough to realize exactly what is going on. As regards the longest I’ve ever been able to control an assumed identity is around two to three months.

The most important step that you can take after an identity change is moving far away from friends, colleagues, lover and employers. Never tell anyone what your new name is or where you are currently located. Erase or delete all contacts to reduce the probability that someone who knows your previous identity will accidentally expose your new identity.

If you think you might be a stalking victim it’s better to talk action fast than to wait. You can find more information on how to get help at the US department of health.

There is a philosophical relationship between identity and change. Many people change their identities because they know it’s the simple and effective way to get rid of old personal and financial issues.

These people create a complete new identity for themselves so that they can enjoy second chance with new opportunities. Economic recession is one of the main reasons that force people to move on the track of changing identity.

Identity Change is often termed as identity theft, it’s a kind of crime where a criminal gets hold of all important information regarding credit card numbers, driving license number, social security number in order to assume someone else’s identity. Getting a completely new identity is not a small issue but changing identity or copying someone’s information may lead to many frauds, scams, terrorist attacks, etc. Relatives, close friends, servant, delivery boys are often the culprit and you should be alert while using your computer in public or while accessing the internet.

Who needs a new identity?

Most of the people associated with criminal or terrorist groups often fell change their identity. These criminals steal the identity of others and sometimes change their own in order to spread terror.

Bankrupts or loan defaulters also change their identity because this way they can hide their self from a bank or police. Many banks and financial institutions are now creating departments particularly for combating this type of crime.

Business competitors or enemy may hare identity theft to harm you either personally or professionally. As business competitors have same business, therefore they can make use of your business secrets.

How to save yourself from identity theft

The given points protect your personal information and help you to prevent this crime from happening to you or someone else near you.

Never share your social security number (SSN) with anyone, place your credit or debit card in safe place and be alert while using their number on the internet.

Be careful while using the ATM, shield your hands when entering the PIN and avoid using the machine if you feel insecure.

Avoid using your computer in public and never make use of WiFi network that is unknown to you.

Do not store you personal information on dairy or on your personal computers.

Do not keep you financial information and identifications at same place.

Never respond to emails or snails that request private information about SSN, passwords, credit card number etc.

Avoid sharing your personal photographs or signatures with the strangers.

Secure your mail box by putting lock and key, this prevents thieves from stealing documents like per-approved credit card offers.

Avoid giving your mother name, maiden name or pet name as these may be the answer of your security question.

Always inform concerned department or police if you become victim of identity theft.

There are many people in the world who want to change their identity. If you are one of them, you should continue reading this article. You may want to change your identity to escape debt.

Although, the process is not easy, you can still use these simple tips to do so. Some people are able to escape from their debts by following these simple tips. However, you have to be very careful in doing so.

1. Change your name secretly

This is the first step that you have to do. You can change your name without telling anybody else. Do not make any mistakes by changing your name via deed poll, statutory declaration, or public notices. You can be traced easily by using all of those methods. Your name can be the most important thing that you should change when you want to change identity. Find a new name that does not have any correlation with your old name. Make sure that everyone is not able to relate your new name with your old name. Replacing your name can be the best option to hide from the debt collectors.

2. Move to another place

You should also move to another place if you want to change your identity. In most cases, the debt collectors are going to come to your house to force you to pay your debt. When you move to another places, they are not able to find you. It is important to move to another place secretly. You should not tell anybody that you are moving. Try to move to the small city because debt collectors are not able to find you in a small city. Introduce yourself to your new neighbors with your new name. Do not tell anybody the reason why you move to that place.

3. Remove all your documents

It is also important to remove all documents that use your former name. Try to trash all documents, including driving license, social security card, passport, ATM, or any other personal documents. You should also remove all your identity online. You can remove all documents on the Internet, such as Facebook account, Twitter account, email account, and many more. Make sure that people cannot trace you. Do not leave any documents that contain your name on it. This is one of the most important steps that you have to do to change identity.

4. Find a job

You can earn income by finding a job. However, you may be underpaid because you do not have any legal documents. This is the best step that you have to do in order to continue your life. You can’t earn any money without working on somebody. In applying for jobs, you have to make sure that you use your new name. Forget about your former name. Do not use your former name at all when you are applying for the new jobs. It is important to be very careful when finding jobs. You should not apply for big companies because they are not going to give you jobs if you do not have any legal documents. Try to apply for small companies or restaurants to get small income for your living costs.

5. Apply for the Certification of Naturalization after several years

If you want to get legal documentations, you can apply for the Certification of Naturalization after several years. Different countries have different regulations. Most of them are able to give you this certification after several years. You should keep your secret of your former identity. After getting your new identity, you should not do the same mistake as before. You should become a good citizen in your country. It is not easy to change identity illegally. Therefore, you have to keep your new name as good as possible.

When I first logged on and saw my credit report and the damage I had done to it, I was shocked. I knew that I had maxed out a couple of credit cards and had some old unpaid loans, but I had no idea that I was now hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt.

I panicked as I realized that there was no way I would be able to repay these debts with the meager minimum wage salary that I earned. My credit score was about as low as it could get and none of my relatives would agree to loan me any more money at this point. I was all on my own and needed to find a way to get myself out of this situation that I had gotten into.

I thought about filing for bankruptcy, but the process seemed so long and complicated. I had no idea where to even begin. I called around to a few lawyers, but never really received the help that I was looking for. Then one day I was watching a movie where a guy changes his entire identity and starts over with an entirely new life. I wondered if I could do something like that and be able to start a new, debt-free life. If I could live my life all over again with a clean slate, I would certainly do a lot of things differently.

I started searching online for ways to change my identity. I saw that it is relatively easy for a person to change their name and social security number, but that there would still be links to the old name and social security number. Many articles I read informed me that most people who change their identity to escape creditors are usually found out after a while. This information definitely discouraged me. I then found websites for a few companies that claimed to give you a new identity for a fee. They even gave you a new birth certificate. I thought this might be the way to go, but unfortunately, deeper digging led me to find that some of those change identity solutions seems to be scams. The only way that seemed to actually work was to try the Change ID Bible guide.

The first step was to change my name. I never liked my name in the first place, so this did not seem like a big deal to me. I researched a lot of baby name sites and settled on a new name that I really liked. The laws of my state required me to go to the county courthouse and file a name change petition. After posting an announcement regarding my change of name in the paper for four weeks and paying a small fee, I was granted the name change. As for changing my social security number, that would be a lot more difficult. The government only allows people to change their SSN if they are domestic violence victims or can prove that their social security number has been misused. My situation met neither of those criteria.

Unless I suddenly was to become a witness to a major federal crime and entered the Witness Protection Program, there was virtually no chance I could change my entire identity and start a new life. This really disappointed me and I searched for ways around this obstacle, but found none. So with my new name, I simply decided to move to another country.

I figured that in a new country, my past would be less likely to follow me and I would be surrounded by completely new people who had no idea who I was and I did not owe them a dime. It has been a year so far since I moved and things are going well so far.

Debt is deadly trap. Once it reaches its critical mass, life spins out of control. When faced by an extremely large amount of outstanding debt, people inevitably seek solutions to their problem that they might not consider otherwise.

Even shady practices are not off the table when your financial situation is being destroyed by money owed to banks, credit card companies, private creditors and even people that might not think twice about putting your life in danger.

During such time, some may start to wonder if changing their identity can become the permanent solution they so desperately seek.

Will Changing Your Identity Help Avoid Creditors?

There is no easy answer to that question.

While changing your identity and escaping creditors may seem like a scenario straight out of a Hollywood movie, it may become a possibility depending on the situation. To get to the bottom of this, we would have to consider the different types of situations in which such a need may arise.

You may have taken numerous loans to keep up with your neighbors and only now start to feel reality catching up to you. Maybe the student loans you took in an optimistic economy took a turn for the worst as the world was hit by recession. Perhaps you have been drown in the debt of your ex-spouse or family members, lost all your savings to a financial scheme or feel that you have become a victim of an injustice. Whatever the reason, remember that no cause will justify the following actions in face of the law.

How Would a Person Changing Their Identity Without a Trace?

As it should expected, there are much more known cases of identity fraud being discovered and prosecuted than there are publicly covered successes. The secret of people who have evaded their debt has been keeping low profile for their entire life.

Even anonymously published accounts are few and far between. However, the ones that can be viewed have proved to be invaluable in producing this article. While this type of behavior is certainly illegal in all countries around the world and is certainly not encouraged, we will describe it as an example.

The following are some of the conditions that need to be present in order to avoid debt by changing your identity.

Name Change

The first step would be to change your name. None of the conventional and freely available means will fit the described situation. When doing so, you would have to avoid informing the electoral office, your bank or any other organization that actively keeps a record or your account or membership in one way or another.

Changing your name through a deed poll, public notice or statutory declaration will always leave traces for your creditors to follow. All of these things have safeguards in place that help the government and law enforcement to prevent their misuse for illegal purposes, and the same safeguards can be used by creditors who have legally obtained court orders.

Simply changing your name is never enough. You would have to leave no trail at all between yourself and your previous identity. In the modern day and age, this can prove impossible considering all the electronic documents that such actions would involve. That’s why this process involves many other steps.

Financial Institutions

Banks force you to update your personal details regarding your account and are especially alert to name changes, even when they occur as a result of a marriage. You would have to close your bank account before you attempt to undergo a change of your identity.

Use caution when building a new credit history. Use a prepaid card if you need to make electronic payments, but try to avoid banks. This is because banks and other financial institutions may run extensive background checks on their new clients. The more serious the service you’re applying for, the more likely the check will be and the further the bank will reach into your past. You can potentially get trouble for applying for new loans, so you may need to avoid them for the rest of your life.

Other Documents

Whenever you attempt to open a bank account and submit a copy of your ID, it’s sent to the main office and several background checks are run on it, including a photo check. A person going about this would have to check the security procedures implemented by each bank beforehand. Note that regulations may be subject to change and could eventually catch you even if you applied the proper caution.

Destroy all of the documents that can connect you to your past identity, including SSC, passport, driving license, ATM cards and checks. Forget about using your old ID online and never access any online accounts you may have opened in your previous name.

Note that today, running photo checks is a much more simple procedure than it was in the past. Even having lots of Facebook pictures uploaded online will jeopardize your chances of ever escaping debt.

Moving

You won’t be able to escape if you stay in the same place, since any private detective will soon locate you if you stay in the same town, city, state or even country.

Apply for the citizenship in the country where you chose to reside. In the UK, the Certificate of Naturalization can be filed after a period of six years. Three years of marriage both in will grant you the same rights both in the UK and the US.

Employment

You will need a job or a stable income source, but it will be difficult to secure well-paid employment without an SSN. You may consider planning it in advance, but take care not to let anyone else on the connection between your old and new identity. The past will have to stay in the past for this reckless scheme to succeed.

Start your own business. Try to make as many payments and transactions in cash as you can. Running your operations online can become even more effective in preventing being discovered by your creditors. Use online payment processors and take care to read their terms of service not to raise any red flags that may require the management to alert the authorities to your case.

Is This The Right Choice?

More often than not, changing your identity to escape debt is most certainly not the right decision to make. When standing on the crossroads, many people decide that running is not the answer.

Even several high-profile witnesses for criminal prosecution trials have denied their inclusion in the government-run witness protection program. If people in the face of deadly danger do not wish to leave their past behind only to have a better shot at safety, everyone who faces debt should consider legally available means of dealing with their situation, such as bankruptcy.

Above all, do not take advice from the Internet. This article is merely a source of interesting information to consider, and by no means a guide for evading debt.

Since 911 the world has changed. There are thousands of conspiracy theories on how 911 benefited governments around the world to implement new laws enabling them to spy on their citizen without even needing a court order.

There are billions of phone conversations, emails or text based chats taking place every day on this planet. The National Security Agency (NSA) is using facilities like Echolon to intercept and evaluate communications between individuals.

The real challenge the NSA is facing that there is too much data to be evaluated manually. Many people think that certain keywords e.g. “bombe….” would trigger a manual review. Actually it would not trigger a review. Suicide bombers might not be the smartest people on earth, still they are smart enough to be aware of that their communications could be intercepted. It’s very popular with terrorists to use code words to keep their communications secret from outsiders.

How can the NSA evaluate so much information?

The NSA is using highly sophisticated algorithms to determine if a certain conversation should get a manual review.

What are they looking for?

Location (between which two points does the conversation take place?)

Voice Patterns (NSA has millions of voice patterns stored of people they are interested in)

Communication Patterns (how long and how many times are those two individuals communicating)

Keywords (However they are not looking for individual keywords, it’s more like a combination of certain words).

The NSA has a lot of data on how terrorist communicate. That information enables the NSA to refine their algorithms to detect similar communications taking place in real time.

All information such as financial transactions taking place, travel information, immigration data, cell phone locations are linked together.

All that information linked together gives the NSA and other governments the power to control and monitor its citizen like never before.

The loss of privacy and freedom was first justified with the argument of stopping terrorist attacking western countries.

The issue is once the laws are in place that allow top monitor phone calls or any other kind of information without a court order it will not only be used to fight terrorist but also to monitor average people like you and me. That will lead to the compete loss of privacy and personal freedom in our society. Governments in power can use those tools now available to monitor and track their opposition. Or corrupt officials might sell private information of people in the public view to scrupulous journalists as it happened recently in the UK.

However, they will be always people who know how to play the system and keep their personal identity hidden. They are many ways to escape the surveillance society, e.g. living off the grid, changing your identity etc.

People who choose to live under the radar are in most cases not criminals or terrorist, they just want to protect their privacy and enjoy a live without the fear that every step is monitored by some Government agency.
